OutIn Nano 2 Portable Espresso Machine
A genuinely pocketable espresso maker with real upgrades over the original Nano: a bigger battery, faster 45W charging, and a stronger 21-bar pump. The small 85ml tank and premium price keep it a specialty buy rather than a daily-driver machine.
Pros
- 5,000mAh battery, double the capacity of the original Nano, rated for up to 9 shots per charge
- 45W USB-C PD fast charging reaches full in about 100 minutes
- 21-bar pump and 120W heater for richer crema and quicker heat-up (~159 seconds)
- Works with ground coffee or Nespresso Original Line capsules
- Compact, cordless, one-hand design at 740g
Cons
- Small 85ml water tank limits single-fill capacity
- Pricier than entry-level portable espresso makers
- Nano 1 accessories (e.g. the Basket Plus) aren't compatible
The OutIn Nano 2 is the second generation of OutIn’s pocketable, battery-powered espresso maker, built for travel, camping, and desk-side brewing without an outlet nearby.
What’s new over the Nano 1
The headline change is battery and charge speed: a 5,000mAh 3S pack roughly doubles the endurance of the original Nano, rated for up to nine 50ml brews on a charge, and 45W USB-C PD fast charging brings a full charge down to about 100 minutes (versus 180 for the Nano 1). A five-minute top-up is enough for around 30 extractions with preheated water. The pump has also been pushed from the Nano 1’s lower pressure up to a 21-bar maximum, paired with an upgraded 120W heater that can bring room-temperature water to 93°C in as little as 159 seconds.
Brewing and design
The machine is built around an 85ml SUS316L stainless steel water tank and accepts either freshly ground coffee in an upgraded 8g basket or Nespresso Original Line-compatible capsules, so it works whether you’re grinding beans at a campsite or just want a quick pod on a desk. Brewing follows four steps: fill the tank, load the basket or capsule, hold the power button for two seconds to heat from cold (or double-press when using preheated water), and espresso is ready in under three minutes. At Ø71 × 236mm and 740g, it’s sized and shaped like a large water bottle and is designed to be operated one-handed. It ships in four colorways — Canyon Green, Space Grey, Forest Green, and Pearl White — and OutIn builds the retail packaging with kraft paper inside and out, with the company stating 89% of it is recyclable or biodegradable. Note that the Nano 1’s Basket Plus accessory is not compatible with the Nano 2, so existing Nano 1 owners upgrading will need the new basket.
